Serena Williams uses her US Open stardom to help ‘Sis’ Alicia Keys promote her new Broadway musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’

Serena Williams was one of the biggest names to visit Flushing Meadows in recent days to watch the 2024 US Open. The 23-time Grand Slam champion was seen in the stands to watch Jannik Sinner, Grigor Dimitrov and Frances Tiafoe play out their round of 16 matches. Serena was also joined by recording artist Alicia Keys for the match with Dimitrov, as the latter was promoting her new Broadway musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’.

Keys had a great time with Serena and it was no surprise that the American tennis legend shared a series of photos from the match on Instagram. She also gave a shoutout to the musical, which helped the Swedish House Mafia star reach Serena’s 17.3 million followers on the social media platform.

“If it’s serious I don’t want it. So much fun at the @usopen @aliciakeys And if you can go check out Hells Kitchen Broadway! It’s a MUST,” Williams captioned her post.

The 16-time Grammy Award winner also expressed her admiration for the superstar athlete. In one Instagram story, Keys even referred to Williams as her “sister.”

Considering the beautiful bond the two have built over the years, it comes as no surprise that Serena is helping the famous artist.

Keys and Serena have been good friends for years

Serena and Keys have a few things in common. Aside from being two of the most successful figures in their respective fields, they are also of similar ages. With similar perspectives on life, the celebrities have even been best friends for several years.

During Wimbledon 2019, the legendary performer even appeared on BBC and revealed her love for Serena. Speaking about the relationship they share, Keys also explained what she admired most about her “sister.”

“She’s like a sister to me. I love her perspective, I love her style, I love who she is. She’s amazing.

“The amount of power that’s in that body and mind is absolutely awe-inspiring. You look at the human body in a whole new way when you watch Serena play.

When you see a beautiful black woman like Serena making the moves that she makes, in a predominantly white sport, it really shows every little girl, every little boy, every young person that there is no space that we don’t belong in.” said Keys.

This friendship will last a lifetime. As New York City becomes abuzz with sports and entertainment over the next few days, with the final stages of the US Open and the Broadway musical taking place simultaneously.
