Operation Lone Star leads to more than 500,000 apprehensions, 46,000 arrests, and seizure of 521 million lethal doses of fentanyl in Texas border initiative

In a recent report from the Texas government, the ongoing Operation Lone Star has resulted in a significant number of apprehensions and arrests in its mission to curb illegal immigration and smuggling activities. The multi-agency initiative, involving the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, has resulted in more than 518,900 apprehensions of illegal immigrants and more than 46,300 criminal arrests, including more than 40,200 felony charges.

A striking figure that stands out in these statistics is the seizure of over 521 million lethal doses of fentanyl. According to the statement, this amount is potent enough to kill any individual, not only in the United States but also in Mexico. The report credits Operation Lone Star with an 85% reduction in illegal border crossings into Texas, and further claims that this decrease has reduced the number of migrants being transported to various holding cities across the country.

Governor Greg Abbott, a staunch critic of the federal government’s border policies, recently went to X to express his disapproval of Vice President Harris’s stance on immigration issues. He accused her of promoting policies that would welcome more illegal immigration into Texas and America, including taxpayer-funded health care for illegal immigrants, the abolition of ICE, and the decriminalization of illegal border crossings.

Operation Lone Star continues to make headlines with a variety of involvements, including a recent arrest by DPS agents in Starr County and the discovery of 17 illegal immigrants in a tightly confined space in a cloned delivery truck. In both cases, individuals involved in the human smuggling operations have been arrested and are facing serious charges. The state-coordinated efforts are ongoing and include nighttime operations using advanced technology to detect and apprehend individuals crossing the border. The Texas National Guard, which plays a critical role in these efforts, recently assisted in the arrests of two suspected drug smugglers, as confirmed by a Texas government press release.

The initiative remains a top priority for Texas leaders, who are sticking to their promise to address what they see as a crisis at the border created by federal policy. As Gov. Abbott’s office outlines the series of interventions and arrests, they underscore the state’s determination to combat transnational crime and protect communities inside and outside Texas.
