Maher lashes out at Cheryl Hines critics after RFK Jr., Trump join forces: ‘Offensive posers’

Comedian and TV personality Bill Maher lashed out at critics of Cheryl Hines after her husband, former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., endorsed former President Trump, calling them “offensive posers.”

Hines faced backlash online when her husband suspended his independent presidential bid and announced he would endorse Trump. Days later, Kennedy said his wife was not a Trump supporter and that her response to the endorsement was the “opposite of encouraging.”

Maher, who said he “likes” Kennedy but would not support him for president, blasted Hines’ critics, arguing that the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star faced hate “because she didn’t throw her husband under the bus when he made a decision about something she clearly disagreed with.”

“But that didn’t satisfy the annoying posers on the aforementioned far left,” Maher said during a Friday broadcast of his show “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

“Thousands of people were on Twitter yelling at Cheryl things like ‘how are you living with yourself,’ ‘do better,’ ‘I can’t even enjoy the episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm that you’re in anymore.’”

When Kennedy announced he would endorse the former president in the 2024 election, actor Bradley Whitford immediately criticized Hines for remaining “silent.” Maher pushed back, but also went along with the modern “left.”

“Well, you know what I don’t think is rude, telling a woman what to do, but of course not telling her to her face how to sacrifice her marriage,” Maher said. “You could also read something on Twitter that you approved of.”

“You want to know why I hate the left more than I used to, it’s such s***,” he continued. “There’s an ugliness that they never used to have. The liberals I grew up with aren’t like that. They go after their wives. Even the mafia don’t do that.”
