Bill Maher slams ‘offensive posers’ who targeted Cheryl Hines after RFK Jr. endorsed Trump

Bill Maher stood up for Cheryl Hines on Friday’s episode of Real timein which he criticized “offensive posers” who criticized the actress over her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to support Donald Trump for president.

While Maher has made it clear that he does not support RFK Jr. as a presidential candidate, he disagrees with people criticizing Hines on social media for not condemning her own husband.

Halfway through his “New Rule” segment, Maher said that Larry David once described Hines as “the greatest person I ever met, the only person in Hollywood who doesn’t have a single enemy.”

“Well, now,” he said. “Because she didn’t throw her husband under the bus when her husband made a decision about something that she clearly didn’t agree with.”

Hines has previously said she does not support Trump or his third presidential bid. Last month, RFK Jr. told TMZ that his wife is “a lifelong Democrat.”

Maher continued his tirade by reprimanding “the obnoxious poseurs of the aforementioned far left” for recent hateful comments on social media directed at the Curb your enthusiasm actress.

An example of this came from actor Bradley Whitford, who on X (formerly Twitter). “What a way to remain silent while your insane husband throws his support behind the convicted rapist who brags about depriving women of their basic rights,” Whitford wrote in his post.

“Well, you know what I don’t think is bold? Explaining to a woman — but not to her face, of course — that she should sacrifice her marriage so you can read something on Twitter that you approve of,” Maher said in response. “You want to know why I hate the left more than I used to? It’s this kind of shit. There’s an ugliness that they never had before. The liberals I grew up with weren’t like that. Going after women, even the mafia don’t do that.”

The presenter added: “In theory, liberals are sympathetic. In practice, this man can’t even understand one of the most basic dilemmas that all humans share: that sometimes you have to swallow some shit when you’re married.”

RFK Jr. suspended his presidential campaign in August and endorsed GOP candidate Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance, even appearing alongside Trump at a rally in Arizona.
