Akhilesh Yadav alleges fake encounters took place under BJP rule in Uttar Pradesh

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh over the alleged clashes, saying a “pattern has emerged”.

In a post on X, the SP leader said, “A pattern of encounters has emerged under BJP rule: first pick someone, then concoct a story of a fake encounter, then show fake photos to the world and then when the family members tell the truth after the murder, they are pressurised and enticed…”

“…The more the BJP with its troops tries to prove such meetings as true, the bigger the lie that meeting actually is. The BJP itself conducted the meeting of truth,” he added.

The Congress has also criticised the BJP government over alleged clashes in the state.

“Mangesh Yadav’s meeting in Sultanpur has once again proved that BJP does not believe in ‘rule of law’. Professional forces like STF are being run as ‘criminal gangs’ under the BJP government, the silence of the central government on this is their clear agreement on this ‘thoko policy’. Dozens of meetings of UP STF are under discussion. Has any action been taken against any of those officers so far? After all, who is saving them and why. Touching the Constitution in front of the cameras is just a pretext, while your own governments are openly tearing it to shreds,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had said in a message on X on September 8.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath last week slammed Samajwadi Party leaders for their allegations.

“You know, when a mafia or a dacoit is killed in an encounter with the police, it is as if the police have touched a nerve and they start shouting. Tell me, if a dacoit, who was killed in an encounter, had been left behind to continue his crimes, could the Samajwadi Party bring back those lives? During the SP government, the police used to run while the goons chased them. Today, their roles have been reversed. The mafia runs, the police chase,” the Chief Minister said.

Bahujan Samaj party leader Mayawati had earlier slammed both the BJP and the Samajwadi Party and warned people to “be careful of the drama”. He also said that “no fake encounters” took place during the BSP’s rule in Uttar Pradesh.

“After the incident in Sultanpur district in UP, the BJP and SP are blaming each other for law and order and are violently playing politics in the name of crime, criminals and caste, while in this case both are chor chor mausera bhai. That is to say, the law and order situation in the SP government, like in the BJP, was much worse. People have not forgotten that in the past, the SP goons and the mafia used to rob and beat up Dalits, other backward classes, the poor and businessmen in broad daylight,” Mayawati said in a post on X.

She further said that the law was in force only during the BSP rule and warned the people to be careful of the rule of law dramas of the BJP and SP.
