Officer, suspect remain in Boston hospitals after shooting

A Boston police officer remained hospitalized Friday after being struck by a stolen vehicle in Jamaica Plain the night before. Police shot the driver, who was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Few new details were available the day after the violent and chaotic scene broke out Thursday night at the Forest Hills MBTA station.

Detective Sergeant John Boyle, the police department’s chief spokesman, said Friday that the injured officer and the suspect were in separate Boston hospitals. He said the driver, whose name has not been released, is being monitored by officers and will be arraigned Thursday in connection with the incident. Boyle declined to release the name of the injured officer.

The incident happened shortly after 7:45 p.m. behind the Forest Hills MBTA station. Police arrived on the scene and closed off vehicular and pedestrian traffic on a stretch of Hyde Park Avenue behind the MBTA station, the terminus of the Orange Line.

Information about the make and model of the vehicle and where it was stolen was not available Friday.

Boyle said the incident remains under investigation by the department’s gun violence investigation team.
