TROON, Scotland (AP) — Tiger Woods had another tough day and his season came to an end on Friday at The Open after failing to make the cut for the third consecutive major. The 48-year-old veteran carded rounds of 79 on Thursday and 77 on Friday, with a total of 14 strokes over par, far from the cut that will allow all players at +6 or better to compete in the Saturday and Sunday rounds.

In April, Woods set a record at the Masters by making the cut at Augusta 24 times in a row. That was the last tournament this year —out of the five he played— where he made it to the weekend.

From the first holes, Tiger showed that he was never in contention to make the cut. In today’s round he had five bogeys, a double bogey (on the 2nd hole) and just one birdie.
