Arrest made in connection with triple murder in Ahwatukee apartment after fire

PHOENIX (AZFamilie) — Police said Friday that officers have arrested a man they suspect killed three people in an Ahwatukee apartment before setting it on fire.

Thirty-year-old Chase Christman was arrested and questioned.

Police said he admitted to being in the second-floor apartment on 48th Street, near Ray Road, but denied killing anyone.

He was jailed on three counts of murder and one count of misconduct with a weapons offense.

Emergency workers found the bodies of 37-year-old Samuel Lott, 27-year-old Merissa Honeycutt and 25-year-old Anthony Frederickson-Ceccarelli around 7 a.m. Monday after a fire in the apartment.

According to police, the three showed clear signs of trauma not caused by the fire and were victims of murder.

Lott’s brother, Doug Lott, said he did not know the other two victims.

Doug said his family reported Sam missing two days before the fire.

Monday’s murder investigation lasted 12 hours, which police say is rare.

Police say Christman is the only suspect in the murder, but the investigation is ongoing.
