Later in the race, Heim climbed back into the race with the leaders. As he passed the #19, he bumped him again under the caution.

After the race, Heim walked over to Eckes’ truck to have a chat.

Eckes: “I didn’t mean it that way, Corey.”

Heim: “Normally it’s polite to give a lane to the guy in front of you. You know what I mean. I always race with respect, so I expect the same.”

Eckes: “It’s not like I hit a wall right away, Corey.”

Heim: “Oh, you pretty much did that. I had my nose against the wall and I blocked the steering wheel on the left.”

Eckes: “I gave you a lane.”

Heim: “No, you didn’t.”

Eckes: “And I misjudged it.”

Heim: “Clearly. A piece, about half a truck width.”

Heim started to walk away.

Eckes: “Goodbye, Corey.”

Christian Eckes responds

“He has a right to be angry,” Eckes told Fox Sports after the race.

“I just misjudged the straight road. And he acted like I was driving into the wall. But I wasn’t. I was trying to leave a lane, I just misjudged it.”

“I apologize to the guys at No. 11. But I would probably be angry too.”
