Kentucky honors fallen soldier on July 22 – flags at half-staff | News

FRANKFORT, KY — Governor Andy Beshear has ordered that flags at all state buildings be flown at half-staff on Monday, July 22, in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died on active duty.

Tech. Sgt. Andrew Hemsath served in the United States Air Force and died on July 5 while assigned to the 355th Fighter Generation Squadron, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska.

Hemsath’s family will hold a private service and burial on Monday. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to participate in the tribute.
