Andy Murray and Liam Broady trade jokes during Atlanta Open breakfast debacle

Andy Murray and Liam Broady have had a hilarious exchange, with the latter saying his fellow countryman got a slap on the wrist after they went at each other again on social media.

They are known to exchange messages on social media and Murray didn’t miss his chance when Broady complained about breakfast at the Atlanta Open while he was playing Juncheng Shang early in the morning.

Murray, who recently announced his retirement, was replaced by Broady, who has never advanced beyond the third round of a Grand Slam. Broady previously impressed at Wimbledon, beating Casper Ruud in the second round before losing to Denis Shapovalov, and also reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2022.

But he could miss out on a spot at the US Open, having never qualified for the tournament earlier in the calendar year and having struggled on the Challenger Tours. Now he has more time to chat with Murray, as the latter has now retired from the sport and will only play doubles at the Olympics next week.

“First match today at 10:00, so have to warm up at 8:30. Breakfast doesn’t open until 9:00? I walked into the players’ area and we have… bagels. Really good for a high-quality tennis tournament in Atlanta,” Broady said on X.

Murray replied: “Hope you’re okay mate. That sounds awful. Surprised you didn’t check the breakfast situation beforehand, as most professionals would have done.”

But the former world number one was infuriated by Broady who joked: “You’ve got five people to wipe your ass for, man. You’ve never pre-screened a situation in your life, we’re not the same.” Before being handed a fishing rod by Murray, which showed he was fishing for bait.

First game at 10am today so need to warm up at 8:30. Breakfast doesn’t open until 9am? We walked to the players area and we got… bagels. Really good for a high quality tennis tournament in Atlanta 😂😂😂
