Twins put Correa on injured list for treatment of plantar fasciitis, Paddack out with forearm injury

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins placed All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa on the injured list Saturday for treatment of plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

Starting pitcher Chris Paddack also went on the injured list with a right forearm strain before the team’s first game back from the All-Star break. He’s been dealing with stiffness this week.

Utility player Austin Martin was recalled from the IL and second baseman Edouard Julien was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to fill roster spots, but the five-day break did not yield much for the injured Twins.

Correa was held out of Tuesday’s All-Star Game because of the injury he suffered last season to his left foot. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection during halftime, which will require him to wear a running boot for a few days, manager Rocco Baldelli said.

Correa is hitting .308 with an .896 OPS for his best numbers in seven years. He has 13 homers, 47 RBIs and 51 runs.
