New Forest residents protest over prolonged lack of electricity

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is under increasing pressure to speed up power supply after Hurricane Beryl, as frustrated residents protest again.

Today’s protest was carried out by residents of the New Forest in Manchester.

The resident signs blocked a portion of Alligator Pond’s main road in an attempt to get JPS’s attention.

They complained that there was light again in the surrounding villages and that the lack of electricity in their area was becoming unbearable.

They pointed out that it is expensive to keep a generator running.

They also said that mosquitoes have taken over the community and they need electricity to protect themselves from mosquito bites.
