Knicks close out Summer League with highlight against Hawks

The first Noel provided one final euphoric rush in the New York Knicks’ final Summer League outing of 2024.

Obadiah Noel led a backup offense in the swan song for the baby Knicks, scoring a team-best 15 points in a 90-82 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night. The Knicks’ (3-2) prospects ended their showcase on a high, as the consolation finals triumph was their third in a row after losing their first two.

With the final in mind, summer coach Dice Yoshimoto and his staff cleared their bench and the prospects took full advantage of their lucky break, with all eight reserves taking part in the match scoring at least once from the field, with Noel, Sam Cele and Rokas Jokubaitis leading by four points.

All but one had a positive plus/minus, with Jokubaitis leading the way at plus-18. In what will likely be his final appearance as a Knick until next summer, Jokubaitis also dished out five assists and grabbed five more rebounds. Headliner Tyler Kolek couldn’t match his scoring magic from earlier in the week, but he did contribute 12 of the Knicks’ 18 first-period points with four of his own and three assists (part of a team-best six in 14 minutes in the latter category).

Atlanta (0-5) held out top draft pick Zaccharie Risacher on Friday and failed to escape Sin City with a win. Summer League veteran Keaton Wallace was the star attraction, falling one assist shy of a double-double after leading all scorers with 23.
