Paul Arriola’s PK stoppage-time goal gives Dallas a draw with Revolution

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Paul Arriola scored on a penalty kick in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time and FC Dallas came back for a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

Arriola took the penalty kick and scored his third goal of the season for Dallas (8-11-6) after Tarik Scott fouled New England defender Henry Kessler.

Neither team found the net until Dallas defender Nkosi Tafari scored an own goal in the 65th minute to give the Revolution (7-14-2) a 1-0 lead.

Aljaz Ivacic made one save for the Revolution. Maarten Paes saved one shot for Dallas. Neither goalkeeper was tested in a scoreless first half.

Dallas saw a two-game winning streak end but improved to 5-3-1 under interim manager Peter Luccin. The club was without leading scorer Petar Musa, who was serving a one-game suspension for a series of yellow cards. Musa has scored nine goals in his last eight games.

The Revolution snapped a three-game losing streak that followed a five-in-six-game winning streak under first-year manager Caleb Porter.

New England leads the all-time series at 24-19-5. Dallas improves to 8-13-2 on the road against the Revs.

The league will take a month-long break to play for the Leagues Cup. Dallas will travel to play DC United when play resumes on August 24. New England will travel to play CF Montreal on August 24.
