Newlyweds try to ‘practice’ baby by changing diapers on 35 reborn dolls

Meet the newlyweds who are trying for a baby while they “practice” parenthood by caring for 35 reborn dolls – including learning how to put on nappies. Jess Ellis, 28, has expanded her collection of hyper-realistic dolls from 13 to 35 in the past 10 months. The couple take the dolls for walks in their prams and have already spent £6,000 on baby essentials – so they think they’ll be “prepared” if they fall pregnant with a real toddler. Jess started collecting the dolls in May 2020 – due to her “loneliness” during the pandemic. But after marrying her partner, Avery Raassen, 34, three weeks ago on July 24, they’ve now decided to try for a baby. After spending “at least” £6,000 on baby clothes for her dolls, Jess says her future child will be the “best dressed baby in town”.
