Montgomery County Sheriff Investigates Body Found in North Fork River

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports that a body was found in the North Fork River on Saturday, July 20.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports a body was found in the North Fork River on Saturday, July 20.

According to the sheriff’s office, officers, along with personnel from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue and the Elliston Fire Department, responded to reports of a body found in the river near Cannery Road in Elliston. The body was recovered from the water and the investigation determined the deceased had been in the water for an undetermined amount of time.


The sheriff’s office reports the body is that of a 50-year-old Hispanic man, based on identification found at the crime scene.

At this time, the sheriff believes there is no evidence of foul play.

The body has been taken to the coroner.
