Six Florida cities are among the top 10 best US cities to buy a home for the first time

Potential homebuyers looking for their first home have a good chance of making their dreams come true in Florida. In fact, half a dozen Florida cities dominate a new list of the top 10 cities for people to buy their first home.

A recently published study by Wallet Hub ranked several Florida cities among the best places in America for first-time home buyers. The top five cities on the list are all from Florida, with Palm Bay at the top, followed by Cape Coral, Port St. Lucie, Tampa, and Orlando, respectively, rounding out the top five. Surprise, Arizona came in sixth, but another Florida city, Lakeland, came in seventh.

Wallethub used 22 key housing market indicators to compare them to 300 US housing markets to the list.

Top Florida government officials were quick to call on Governor Ron DeSantis to create an economic climate favorable to home ownership in Florida.

“Governor DeSantis has taken a steadfast, pro-job seeker, pro-employer approach that is always at the forefront of improving the many incredible places to live, work and play in Florida,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly in a prepared statement. “It is through the Governor’s focus on workforce readiness, infrastructure readiness, public safety, conservative financial management and a continued focus on lowering the cost of living that Florida communities continue to thrive and attract families from across the country.”

The remaining top 10 cities most suitable for first-time home buyers, according to the Wallethub research, are Boise, Idaho in eighth place, Gilbert, Arizona in ninth place, and Henderson, Nevada in 10th place.

The study found that eight of the 10 cities with the worst home prices for first-time buyers are in California.
