Montgomery Central High Football Wants to Create Culture Behind Head Coach Wyatt Page

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians are entering a new era with first-year head coach Wyatt Page at the helm. The Indians are looking to create a culture of physicality and hard work while focusing on the details.

Last year, the Indians didn’t have an ideal season, going 0-10, but the record doesn’t reflect their season. The Indians lost multiple games by one score, including one overtime loss. As far as Page is concerned, last year’s team is way behind this year’s.

“Last year isn’t talked about, it’s in the rearview mirror,” Page told Clarksville Now. “There are a lot of new faces here and most of us are new to the program. We’re building a program that puts student-athletes first.”

On the field, Page preaches physicality to his team. Senior running back Kanyon Conner will lead the running game with his strength and quick change of direction.

“We’re going to be a physical team that absolutely doesn’t give up,” Page said. “We have a great group of kids that have worked incredibly hard this offseason, and I’m blessed to be here. I’m really excited to see this team excel.”

Many may have doubts about the Indians this season based on past teams, but MCHS is looking to shock the mid-state and restore their winning tradition. How will they do that? By focusing on the details.

“We’re really focused on the details, the little things,” Page said. “We preach to them every day, putting your foot down on the line, doing what you’re supposed to do in the weight room, in the classroom … those little things add up to the big goals that we’re trying to accomplish.”
