Aidan Chiles Ranked 8th Best QB in Big Ten for 2024

We’re just a little over a month away from the start of Michigan State’s 2024 football season. That means it’s time for the preseason rankings.

No, Michigan State won’t be sniffing preseason streetcar rankings, but player rankings are different. And the Spartans are getting some respect at position rankings in the Big Ten — at least at quarterback.

That’s right, Aidan Chiles gets respect from national judges, which is no surprise.

Chiles is the No. 8 quarterback in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports, just ahead of Michigan’s Alex Orji and Indiana’s Kurtis Rourke, who round out the top 10.

Here’s what 247Sports had to say about Chiles:

“Jonathan Smith convinced promising young quarterback Aidan Chiles to follow him from Oregon State to Michigan State in December. In his limited appearances as the Beavers’ backup in 2023, Chiles completed 69% of his passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns. He was ranked the No. 2 transfer portal quarterback of the cycle.”

Michigan State fans couldn’t be more excited about the Chiles era in East Lansing. He’s one of the most intriguing quarterbacks the program has produced in years. He’s the most athletic quarterback the Spartans have had since Drew Stanton. And he brings the most excitement to the position we’ve seen since Connor Cook — or maybe Brian Lewerke after his breakout season in 2017.

Chiles has all the talent in the world and he’s in the same system he was at Oregon State under Smith and Brian Lindgren. He should be able to thrive in East Lansing.

The weapons he’s equipped with should allow him to move up the quarterback rankings as the season progresses.
