EAST LANSING, Mich. — Join Michigan State University Extension’s Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series team on July 25 for the Hot Topics Session. Producers and ag professionals can get live answers to all their questions about growing a crop, plus emerging pest and disease issues. Any topic related to field crops, whether new, old, undiscussed or just emerging, can be covered. Experts and faculty with a wide range of field crop knowledge will be available for discussion and to answer questions.

Michigan State University Extension State Climatologist Jeff Andresen will present a 15-minute weather summary and forecast. A question-and-answer period will follow.

The Michigan State University Extension Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series will be live via Zoom every Thursday morning from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., March 21 through September 19. Topics are flexible and loosely set at the beginning of the season and can change to address rapidly changing issues such as flooding and drought. Every year brings different challenges and this series is designed to meet the needs of our field crop producers no matter what conditions dictate.

Each week, there are also credits available for Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) recertification and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) Continuing Education Unit credits. To receive recertification credits, participants must join the live Zoom session.

Following the RUP and CCA credit information, participants may leave or remain for a less formal Q&A with farmers, faculty, and specialists that will last until 8:00 a.m. In addition to the scheduled speaker for the day, other MSU Extension campus specialists and faculty with responsibilities for field crops are frequently present at the discussion and are available to answer questions about relevant circumstances that arise in their areas of expertise.

Participating is easy and free! Participants must opt-in to receive an email notification with instructions on how to join the Virtual Breakfast Series. You only need to do this once to receive the Zoom link and dial-in number in the weekly email reminders sent every Wednesday and Thursday. Participants who receive emails can opt in or out at any time.

Register for the Field Crops Virtual Breakfast Series

If you are unable to attend the 7 a.m. live session, you can watch the recorded version at any time. However, only the live session is eligible for RUP and CCA credits. Recordings are captioned and available on the Field Crops Virtual Breakfast webpage and the MSU Extension Field Crops team’s social media platforms: Facebook, Spotify, YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Twitter.
