Pedestrian killed at Bishop Ford crossing in South Holland: police

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL — A pedestrian was killed Monday morning while crossing Interstate 94 (Bishop Ford Freeway) following a car crash he was involved in. According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred around 2:23 a.m. and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the southbound lanes remain closed and traffic is being diverted via 147th Street.

The deceased has been identified as a 44-year-old female resident of Kokomo, Indiana. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released her name pending an autopsy.

The deceased, who had previously been involved in a crash, attempted to cross traffic from a broken-down vehicle in the center lane. She was struck by a passing vehicle, which police said remained at the scene.
