Snug Harbor eliminated with 9-1 loss to Delaware

DOVER, Del. — Snug Harbor left the bases loaded in the first inning and never recovered in a 9-1 defeat to Brandywine LL (Delaware) and was eliminated in the Little League 13-year-old (50/70) Intermediate Eastern Regional Sunday at Dover LL.

Manager Danny Lee’s squad copped the Section 3 South and New York State banners along the way, but ran out of gas after a hard-fought eight-inning set back to Keystone LL (Pa.) in the Regional opener on Saturday.

“I am extremely proud of this group making Sung Harbor history over the last month, winning sectional and state banners and competing in the regionals,” Lee said. “The last 48 hours didn’t go the way we expected and didn’t resemble the way we played over the course of the summer. But, it was an amazing experience that these 11 boys and four coaches had and we will remember it forever.”

Joe Bonura led the Livingston loop with a pair of hits, while Ken Danielsen, Andy Brandon, Mike Grimaldi and James Stern had safeties. Brandon was also solid in relief for the Snugs, tossing 4.2 innings of one-run ball with seven punchouts.

SH finished the summer with an 8-3 mark.
