Who is the wife of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro?

Since his first election in 2022, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has been seen by many as someone with a bright future in Democratic politics. Now that President Joe Biden has announced that he will not seek re-election and Kamala Harris is reportedly running in his place, many are wondering whether Shapiro is a potential vice presidential candidate.

As Shapiro’s name becomes more prominent in those discussions, many want to know more about Shapiro’s family. Here’s what we know about his wife and his children.

Shapiro’s wife, Lori Shapiro, was his high school sweetheart. The two first met in Montgomery County at their high school in the ninth grade, and have been together ever since. Lori attended Colgate University and went on to earn a master’s degree in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from George Washington University. She then joined the Clinton administration, where she worked in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

After she and Josh were married, they returned to Pennsylvania to raise a family together. While Josh pursued a career in politics, Lori devoted those years to her children, though she still found plenty of time to volunteer for the needy and hungry.

Since becoming First Lady, Lori’s biography states that she has continued her life of service and her focus on her family.

“As First Lady, Lori will continue to live a life of service and dedicate herself to her family — as she always has,” the bio explains. “She will use her platform to highlight Pennsylvanians who are making a meaningful difference in their communities, from community-based nonprofits and small businesses to law enforcement and first responders. Lori believes that good neighbors can be found everywhere and that these helpers — as fellow Pennsylvanian Fred Rogers called them — should be recognized, supported and emulated.”

Josh and Lori have four young children together, and it seems like Lori’s recent life has been largely devoted to raising those kids. Those children, Sophia, Jonah, Max, and Reuben, inspired Lori to become a licensed parent, which, as her bio notes, gave her skills she could use to help other parents who were new to parenthood.

While some suspected Shapiro would challenge Harris in an open convention, that is not the path he chose. Instead, he supported Harris in his statement following Biden’s decision to leave the race.

“The best path forward for the Democratic Party is to quickly unite behind Vice President Harris and refocus on winning the presidency. The contrasts in this race could not be clearer, and the path to victory in November runs right through Pennsylvania — where this collective work began,” he said in the statement. “I will do everything in my power to help elect Kamala Harris as the 47th President of the United States.”
