The 2024 ACC Kickoff is underway at the Hilton Charlotte Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the countdown to the start of the college football season nears.

Over the next four days, the 17 ACC football programs will speak to the media about the upcoming season, with Florida State head coach Mike Norvell speaking Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. The players joining Norvell in Charlotte include defensive linemen Jousha Farmer and Patrick Payton and offensive lineman Darius Washington.

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips will open the ACC Kickoff event on Monday at 1 p.m. ET with remarks on the current state of the league and new teams Sothern Methodist University (SMU), California (Cal) and Stanford.

He could also speak in part to the status of the lawsuits from Florida State and Clemson. Both schools have been locked in legal battles with the conference for months in a dispute over media rights and to move to another conference and retain media rights.

The Seminoles’ trip to North Carolina will be a short one, as fall practice for the team begins on Wednesday, July 24, ahead of the season-opening trip to Dublin, Ireland, to take on Georgia Tech in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic on August 24.

Tallahassee Democrat sports reporter Liam Rooney will provide live updates throughout the first day of ACC Kickoff.

On the morning of the start of ACC Kickoff, ESPN senior college football reporter Pete Thamel reported that it is unlikely that FSU and Clemson will announce their departure from the ACC before the Aug. 15 deadline, the last day the schools can leave the conference after the 2024-25 season and before the 2025-26 season.

Both schools are embroiled in a long legal battle over ownership of media rights if either program leaves the ACC. The lawsuit is currently spread across three states, including Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
