Donna Adelson to appear in court Monday ahead of her murder-for-hire trial this fall

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Donna Adelson is expected to appear in court Monday afternoon ahead of her September 17 trial.

Adelson is accused of conspiracy and murder in the shooting of her former son-in-law, Dan Markel. The FSU Law Professor was gunned down in his driveway ten years ago last week, July 18, 2014.

Four people have already been convicted and sent to prison in the murder-for-hire plot, including Adelson’s son, Charlie Adelson. Donna Adelson was arrested last November at the Miami Airport as she and her husband were boarding a one-way flight to Vietnam.

Donna Adelson’s trial is now just eight weeks away.

Attorneys on both sides are trying to meet an August 12 deadline to submit lists of witnesses and exhibits, disclose all of the evidence, and file any pre-trial motions in the case.

It’s not clear what will happen during Monday afternoon’s case management hearing, but the judge could set dates for any necessary pre-trial hearings.

WCTV is planning to stream the hearing live here on WCTV.TVon Facebook and on YouTube at 1:30 pm Monday.
