Major Boston bank closes 7 branches

TD Bank is closing seven branches in Massachusetts, including two in Boston.

In addition to the Boston branches, the bank is also closing branches in Belmont, Brewster, Burlington, Lexington and Pocasset (Bourne).

According to a bank statement, the branches will close on September 20.

According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, two other locations have recently closed, in Worcester and South Hadley.

“The bank regularly evaluates its physical store network and looks for opportunities to better align our store network with our customers through an optimal mix of convenient TD Bank locations and digital banking products and services,” TD Bank said in a statement.

TD Bank said it is making the transition “as smooth as possible” for affected customers. In addition, the bank will support affected colleagues with resources to help with the transition.

After the closing, TD Bank will still have 126 branches in Massachusetts.

TD Bank, North America, headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, is a multinational subsidiary of TD Bank Group. TD is the sixth-largest bank in North America by assets and serves more than 27.5 million customers worldwide, according to SEC filings. As of April 30, TD had $1.07 trillion in assets.
