One of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Actors Dies After Shark Attack

Tamayo Perry, a 49-year-old actor, tragically lost his life after a shark attack on Sunday, June 23, along the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Emergency services received a distress call around noon to rush to Malaekahana beach, but unfortunately, they were unable to save him. Perry had been rescued by a jet ski and brought to shore, where he was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the BBC.

The Honolulu authorities have confirmed the heartbreaking news of his passing. They noted that Perry was a well-known figure on the north shore, renowned for his career as a professional surfer. In addition to surfing, he served as a lifeguard and taught surfing at the Oahu Surfing Experience school. Kurt Lager, the interim chief of Ocean Safety in Honolulu, shared, “Tamayo’s personality was contagious, and no matter how much people loved him, he loved others even more.”

Perry’s most recognized role on the big screen was as one of the pirates in the fourth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, starring alongside Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. He also appeared in other productions such as “Lost,” “Hawaii Five-0,” and “Blue Crush,” which all shared a connection to the ocean.
