Accident involving an overturned truck causes a section of highways in Windsor to be closed

WINDSOR, CT — A semi-trailer truck overturned on Interstate 291 at the southbound Interstate 91 exit Monday afternoon, closing the highway for hours.

An investigation revealed that the weight of the trailer shifted during transport, causing the vehicle to roll onto its right side and land on the guardrail, state police said.

Both the truck driver and a passenger were taken to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries. The driver, a 51-year-old Florida man, was cited for driving with an unsafe load, police said.

According to police, the ramp to southbound I-91 was closed for several hours.
