Wolf Pack Announces 2024 Non-Conference Schedule

RENO, Nevada – Nevada Volleyball will hit the road for four straight weekends to kick off the 2024 season. The non-conference schedule features a handful of opponents from 2023 and a new pair of power conference teams.

The team’s first season under head coach Shannon Wyckoff-McNeal begins in Portland before heading to California for two consecutive weekends. The non-conference schedule concludes in Florida, the team’s first trip to the Sunshine State since the turn of the century.

Rose City Showdown
The non-conference schedule begins with the California Golden Bears at 2 p.m. on Aug. 30. Nevada takes on San Francisco on Aug. 31 at 2:30 p.m. before closing out the weekend with hosts Portland State on Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.

The season opener marks the fourth straight season that Nevada and California will face each other, and the first time since 1988 that they will play on neutral ground.

Nevada has currently won three straight games against the San Francisco Dons, with the last game between the schools scheduled to take place in 2021.

This is Nevada’s first trip to Portland since the Pack beat Portland State 3-0 in 2019.

Roadrunner Classic
Nevada’s second weekend features two opponents from 2023 in Seattle and Oregon State. The Pack begins the weekend in Bakersfield with Seattle at 2 p.m. on Sept. 5, followed by a 1 p.m. game against the Oregon State Beavers on Sept. 6. The weekend concludes with host CSU Bakersfield at 6 p.m. on Sept. 7.

The Pack forced both Seattle and Oregon State to five-set matches in their 2023 meetings.

The trip to Bakersfield is a first for Nevada, but it is the fourth meeting ever between the Pack and the Roadrunners. Nevada leads the series 2-1.

River Classic
The Pack returns to the Riverside Classic, playing games at California Baptist and UC Riverside. The tournament begins at 11 a.m. on Sept. 13 against CSUN, then quickly turns to a 6 p.m. game against California Baptist the same day. Nevada makes the five-mile trip to UC Riverside to take on the Highlanders at 1 p.m. on Sept. 14.

Nevada has had a streak of five straight wins against CSUN since 1995. Since 2019, it has been three straight wins.

The Pack has faced the Lancers of California Baptist twice, both times going to a fifth set. The Pack won their 2019 meeting in Reno.

Nevada has a 5-1 record against UC Riverside, including a 3-0 win against the Highlanders last season.

UCF Tournament
The latest non-conference event marks the first time the Wolf Pack has visited the Eastern Time Zone since 2008. It is also the furthest the Pack has traveled east since 1998.

The two-day tournament features two power conference opponents in UCF and Maryland. Nevada plays UCF on September 19 at 3 p.m. Friday’s doubleheader begins at 9 a.m. against Maryland and concludes with another game at 3 p.m. against UCF.

Nevada has played UCF only once in history, in 1990 in Tampa, Florida.

The Wolf Pack and the Maryland Terrapins have played each other only once, in 2010 in Columbia, Missouri.

Following the weekend in Orlando, the Wolf Pack returns home for Mountain West opening weekend at home against Wyoming and Colorado State on Sept. 26 and 28, respectively. Season tickets for all nine home games at Virginia Street Gym start at $65 for adults, $55 for seniors (55+) and $30 for youth packages. Individual tickets are $7 for general admission or $5 each for groups of 20 or more. Fans can purchase tickets at MyNevadaTickets.com or by calling (775) 348-PACK.
