LSU Tigers football player Javien Toviano arrested for video voyeurism

LSU Tigers defensive back Javien Toviano was expected to compete for a starting cornerback spot in the 2024 college football season.

The former four-star recruit out of Texas played in 13 games as a freshman last season, recording 20 tackles and a fumble recovery.

That was probably the last time we saw Toviano in Baton Rouge.

On Sunday, reports emerged that Toviano had been arrested on charges of video voyeurism. The 19-year-old turned himself in to authorities in East Baton Rouge. He is accused of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent.

The alleged victim claims she found videos of the two on Toviano’s iPad. The woman also claimed he had filmed them having sex in the past without her consent.

“The victim initially did not want to turn over her phone as evidence and did not want the investigation to continue,” reports Javien Toviano’s arrest, per NBC 5 in Dallas. “However, three days later, she returned to the sheriff’s office with Toviano’s iPad, laptop and clock with a built-in camera.”

LSU Releases Statement Following Javien Toviano Arrest

The LSU Tigers didn’t have much to say in a press release after Toviano’s arrest became public, other than to say he has been suspended from all team activities.

“Out of respect for the legal process, we will not be commenting further,” the university said.

LSU will begin training on August 1 and play its first game a month later in Las Vegas against the USC Trojans. Of course, Toviano will not be with the team.

He made three starts in the final month of his freshman season and was expected to take on a larger role as a sophomore under head coach Brian Kelly.

From the perspective of the players on the field, this will have implications for the depth of LSU’s defense.
