Ezequiel Tovar singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning, Sam Hilliard hit a two-run home run in the 10th inning and the Colorado Rockies defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-8 on Monday night in Denver.

Tovar had three singles, his sixth straight multi-hit game, to give Colorado its fourth win in five games.

Charlie Blackmon homered on his two hits, and Brenton Doyle, Jacob Stallings and Aaron Schunk also finished with two hits apiece for the Rockies. Justin Lawrence (3-3) pitched two innings of relief in the win.

Wilyer Abreu put Boston ahead 8-7 with an RBI single in the 12th inning before the Rockies came back.

Jake Cave’s run-scoring single off Bailey Horn (0-1) made it 8-8, and Cave advanced to second on an error. An intentional walk followed by a sacrifice bunt and another intentional walk loaded the bases, and Tovar singled to center off Chase Anderson to end the game.

Jamie Westbrook and Connor Wong had a home run, Tyler O’Neill had three hits and Romy Gonzalez had two hits for the Red Sox, who have lost four games in a row.

Boston took a 7-5 lead in the 10th inning on an RBI double by Dominic Smith and a sacrifice fly by Rafael Devers, but Hilliard tied Colorado in the bottom of the inning with a two-run home run, his third long ball of the season.

Blackmon’s seventh home run of the year, a two-run homer off Red Sox starter Tanner Houck, sparked a four-run third inning for Colorado.

Houck pitched six innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits, and avoided a loss after Boston’s lineup made a comeback in the fifth inning against Rockies starter Austin Gomber.

Westbrook hit a three-run homer, his second homer of the season, and Rob Refsnyder’s RBI single tied the score at 4-4.

Gomber retired the first two batters he faced in the sixth inning before walking Masataka Yoshida. He was then replaced by Peter Lambert, who allowed a two-out double to Gonzalez but survived the inning without further damage.

Gomber allowed four runs on six hits in his 5 2/3 innings.

Colorado took a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning on a two-out RBI double by Stallings, but Wong hit his ninth home run of the season early in the eighth inning.
