LSU Cornerback Javien Toviano Arrested for Video Voyeurism

LSU sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano, 19, surrendered to authorities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday after being charged with video voyeurism, the East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s office said. Toviano, originally from Arlington, Texas, is accused of recording himself performing sexual acts on a woman without her consent, detailed in an arrest warrant.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, told investigators that she had found videos of their intimate moments on Toviano’s iPad. These videos were reportedly captured on a clock with an integrated camera, discreetly placed by the bed, to which she had not given permission. She further revealed that Toviano had previously recorded their encounters without her consent and that she had indicated that she did not want to be recorded.

During questioning, Toviano admitted to detectives that he had used a hidden camera to record the interactions, as stated in the arrest warrant.

Details about Toviano’s bail were not immediately available, and it is unclear whether he has legal counsel to comment on his behalf. In response to the charges, LSU announced Toviano’s suspension from all team activities pending the outcome of the legal process.

Toviano, who joined LSU last year, played in every game as a freshman and was a starter in three of the last five games. He finished his freshman season with 33 tackles and one pass breakup. With preseason training set to begin on Aug. 1, Toviano was expected to compete for playing time at cornerback. LSU said it would refrain from further comment to respect the ongoing legal proceedings.
