Four Michigan State football players rise in recruiting rankings

Michigan State football’s 2025 class currently sits at 15 commits, and all in all, it’s a very solid class. Sure, it’s not up to the standards we have at MSU, but considering where the program was when Jonathan Smith took over, it’s actually very good.

Normally, I don’t follow a recruit who has committed to Michigan State too closely until they get to campus. Sure, there are times when recruiting takes a turn for the worse, but more often than not, there’s not much to look at once they’ve committed to MSU.

The one thing that’s fun to watch, though, is the players who determine the recruiting rankings and whether any of the Spartan’s commits move up on the recruiting sites. And that’s exactly what just happened to four of Michigan State’s commits in the 2025 class.

The following three Michigan State commits all saw their rankings improve on the 247Sports composite ranking. This is significant because it is the most respected ranking of all, as it combines several recruiting site rankings into one.

The Spartan commit who saw the biggest improvement in their ranking is East Lansing running back Jace Clarizio, who saw his ranking jump from .8814 to .8868. The coveted fourth star is awarded once recruits reach .89, so Clarizio is very close to reaching that mark now.

Another Spartan prospect whose ranking improved significantly is tight end Jayden Savory, who went from a .8689 to a .8714. This puts Savory within reach of a four-star ranking and is something he could realistically achieve by the end of the year.

The third Michigan State commit to improve in the 247Sports composite rankings is linebacker Di’Mari Malone. Conveniently, his ranking now matches Savory’s, as he went from a .8685 to a .8714.

Finally, we have linebacker Charles White, who is also pretty close to becoming a four-star. His ranking only improved from .8793 to .8794, but you can see how close he is to reaching .89 and potentially getting his fourth star.

These recruiting rankings will continue to change a lot throughout the rest of the year, and while these rankings don’t really mean much in terms of who they are as players, you’d rather see them go up than down. Hopefully this trend continues and Michigan State will have multiple four-stars in their recruiting class before long.
