Jordan Montgomery to return as starter on Tuesday – MLB News

25 seconds agoArizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Monday that left-hander Jordan Montgomery (knee) will return from the 15-day injured list for the middle game of the series against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday. Montgomery has been in recovery since suffering a right knee injury on June 29, which landed him on the IL with inflammation in his right patellar tendon. After signing late with the Snakes, Montgomery has been underwhelming, going 6-5 with a 6.44 ERA in 65 2/3 innings. Not only are the Royals a poor first matchup back from the IL for the 31-year-old left-hander, but he also skipped a minor-league rehab assignment. The former fourth-round pick of the New York Yankees out of South Carolina in 2014 has never been much of a strikeout player, but currently has a career-low K rate of 15.1%.Keith Hernandez – RotoBaller
