WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Kamala Harris disrupted the season finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” and urged Americans to vote. The appearance was recorded before President Joe Biden dropped his re-election bid.

The episode, which concludes the series’ ninth season and streams Friday on Paramount+, begins with an announcer announcing that programming will be interrupted for an “extra-special ‘Drag Race’ viewing party.”

The scene cuts to the Democratic vice president, who smiles broadly and says into the camera, “Hello, everybody. I’m Kamala Harris. Every day we see our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, to love who they love — openly and proudly.”

Dressed in a purple suit that matches the bright pink couch where she sits next to actor Cheyenne Jackson and is surrounded by other celebrities and stars from the show, Harris continues: “So as we fight back against these attacks, no one is alone.”

“We are all in this together and your vote is your power, so make sure your voice is heard this November and register to vote,” the vice president concluded.

That prompts Jackson to shout, “Can I get an amen?” and Harris and others gleefully shout, “Amen!” The vice president, like many on set, holds up her hands in a gesture of compliment before adding, “Now on with the show.”

Harris and others then clap along to RuPaul’s song “A Little Bit of Love,” while some in the audience raise signs promoting the vote.gov website. Harris laughs when a sign is accidentally turned upside down. RuPaul, the show’s host, does not appear in the clip.

Harris, a former U.S. senator from California, is not the first Democratic politician to appear on the show, which is held in Los Angeles. New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was a guest judge in 2020.

Biden announced over the weekend that he would drop out of the presidential race and endorse Harris. The vice president has since ramped up her campaign and travel schedule.
