Indianola’s National Balloon Classic is here. Check schedule, important info

Watch as more than 100 hot air balloons take to the skies and paint the sky during the 2024 National Balloon Classic.

The nine-day event draws balloon pilots from around the world to Indianola, Iowa, to compete for points, prizes and championship titles. But the festival won’t be all hot air balloons. You can also see live music, fireworks and drone shows each night, according to the National Balloon Classic website.

When is the National Balloon Classic?

The 2024 National Balloon Classic starts on Friday, July 26 at 4:00 PM and runs until August 3 at 11:00 PM.

What is the Indianola Balloon Classic schedule?

Events begin at 6:30pm on Friday 26th July. Most days, games begin at 6:30am and evening entertainment begins at 6:30pm.

Nite Glows will take place on Sunday, July 28 and Wednesday, July 31.

Where is the National Balloon Classic?

The classic will be held at the Memorial Balloon Field at 1136 150th Ave., Indianola, Iowa.

What can I bring to the National Balloon Classic?

It is recommended that you bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Chairs will not be provided, but there are a limited number of chairs that can be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. One backpack or bag is allowed per person and will be checked.

Items that are not permitted include weapons, laser pointers, fireworks, flames, animals (except service dogs), and outside food and drink.

How much does parking cost for the National Balloon Classic?

General admission parking includes the purchase of a ticket. General admission parking includes handicapped parking. The parking lot is located directly south of Memorial Balloon Field. There are signs to follow and once you arrive a volunteer will direct you where to park. Be sure to have your ticket with you when you exit your car as they will be scanned at the entrance.

How much do tickets for the National Balloon Classic cost?

This year, the general admission price for the National Balloon Classic is $12.65. Be sure to pay online, as tickets cannot be purchased at the gate. Tickets will be on sale throughout the competition.
