Suspect arrested for 2019 murder in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with a 2019 murder.

On December 30, 2019 at 4:47 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2106 Bayvale Road to investigate the murder of Dwayne Lane, 52.

The case had cold case status until Friday.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was able to locate and interview both original and new witnesses.

This allowed detectives to arrest Willie Ferrell, 42, in connection with the murder.

Ferrell was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
