Discounts, events to celebrate the 148th anniversary of the state

DENVER (KDVR) — Everyone knows someone who celebrates their birthday all week long. Well, starting Friday, “that person” is Colorado.

August 1 has been designated as Colorado Day, marking the 148th anniversary of Colorado joining the United States. In honor of Colorado’s birthday, hundreds of celebratory events will take place through August 4.


Governor Jared Polis says Colorado Day is a great opportunity for Colorado residents to support local businesses and get outdoors.

“Every day is Colorado Day in our great state, and as we head toward our 150th anniversary, we look back on how far Colorado has come and are proud of the steps we are taking to ensure a strong future for all Coloradans,” Polis said in a press release.

Colorado Day Events

According to a press release from Celebrate Colorado, more than 440 events, including festivals, fairs, art shows, concerts and more, are being held in honor of Colorado’s birthday.

“There are a variety of festivities taking place throughout the state that highlight Colorado culture,” the press release said.
