Q-Up the Classroom radiothon raises $27,000 to stock Teacher Warehouse with school supplies

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The first-ever Q-Up the Classroom radiothon raised $26,690 to help the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation purchase school supplies for the CMC Teacher Warehouse. When the grand total for the two-day radiothon was announced on Q108, 5 Star Media Group chipped in to round it out to $27,000.

During the Radiothon, CMCSS teachers answered the phones to collect donations, XYZ with Erik Zachary, hosts Zachary and Jordan Foster helped out in the studio, and the Montgomery Central High School band and cheerleaders stopped by to get things going. The goal for this first year’s Radiothon was $20,000, and that goal was surpassed by Friday afternoon.

Teacher Warehouse is a free supply store for CMCSS teachers. Through this store, teachers have access to donated supplies to help students in the classroom. Over the past nine years, the store has saved local teachers an estimated $344,000 in expenses.

While school supplies are often the focus, the often untold story is of the students who need much more than a backpack and notebook. They often need the back-to-school clothing that so many families take for granted. By shifting our efforts from collecting items to collecting donations, this year’s effort will allow Teacher Warehouse staff to purchase exactly what teachers need most.

The effort doesn’t stop there! You can still donate online. All money donated through Q Up the Classroom goes to Teachers Warehouse.
