NCSA SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

Sean Green swam to a personal best in the boys 200-meter butterfly en route to a victory on Night 3 in Indianapolis. Green swam a 2:01.22, faster than his previous best of 2:02.47 from last summer’s Junior Nationals.

Green has committed to Georgia next fall and had a busy night. Earlier that night, he swam the 200-meter freestyle and placed second in a time of 1:49.68. That was just shy of his best time of 1:49.35, which he swam in a time trial at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month.

Jason Zhao finished ahead of Green in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:49.38. Zhao, who will represent the U.S. in the event at the Junior Pan Pacs later this summer, owns a best of 1:48.60 that he swam last September when he represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships.

The eventual winner of the evening in the boys’ event was Samuel Wolf who put in a 27.96 in the 50 breaststroke, the only swim under 28 seconds. Jake Wang was 2nd in a 28.10.

Sydney Schoeck highlighted the girls’ team with a huge personal best of 4:47.39 in the 400 IM. She won the event by more than four and a half seconds, while Kate Braeger took second in a 4:51.71. Schoeck’s previous personal best was a 4:49.44 set by May. She has now dropped more than 10 seconds in the event this season, as her personal best prior to this summer was a 4:57.84.

Charlotte Crush claimed another win at the meet with a time of 1:00.63 in the 100 backstroke. Crush swam a personal best of 59.86 in the event to place 12th at the U.S. Olympic Trials last month. That was her highest finish at the meet. Ellison Schrank was 2nd behind Crush tonight with a time of 1:01.76.

Kayla Duran won the girls’ 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 32.19, narrowly beating Chloe Diner, who swam a time of 32.23.
