Former Falcons receiver gets second chance with Super Bowl contender

During the first two years of Arthur Smith’s tenure with the Atlanta Falcons, one of the fan favorites was Frank Darby, the 2021 seventh-round wide receiver out of Arizona State. His ability to keep a smile on his face during the tumultuous times of the Falcons’ offense, particularly the passing game, gave fans something to look forward to during the offseason. Unfortunately, Darby couldn’t do enough to find the field and was demoted to the practice squad and from there to the active roster until he was eventually released in January.

Now, Darby gets a second chance, this time with a clear Super Bowl contender. According to Adam Schefter, Darby signed a one-year deal to join the San Francisco 49ers as they continue to clean out their wide receiver room for what appears to be their final Super Bowl attempt. Darby hasn’t become the deep-threat receiver he appeared to be when he left Tempe, but Darby will always bring an energy and bravado to a locker room that is ultimately unmatched.
