Kajiken recently opened its newest location at 1701 Rockville Pike STE A7, its first in the DC Metro area, joining restaurants in Baltimore, Chicago, Manhattan, and San Mateo, California. Our own Mr. MoCo stopped by last week and named one of their dishes his favorite in Montgomery County this month (video below).

The restaurant serves Abura soba, which can be described as soupless ramen, with flavors coming from a special blend of sauce and oil. Kajiken’s homemade thick noodles and sauces are imported from Japan. “The combination of chili oil and vinegar made it one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten,” Tsironis said.

The dish is the Roasted Beef Aburasoba. It consists of “Noodles with roasted beef, raw egg yolk, fried onion, spring onion, yogurt and chalypino sauce.” Tsironis says, “Blend for 20 seconds and enjoy before it gets cold. I recommend adding extra vinegar and chili oil.”

The dish costs a modest $18, with two additional pieces of roasted beef for an extra $2 if you choose to add it. You can also choose from 20 additional toppings for an additional charge.
