Summer’s ‘Popsicle Days’ in West Hartford – We-Ha

Sometimes there is nothing better than an ice cream on a hot summer day. And when the delivery of the ice cream comes as a surprise, it is even better.

Sean Callahan, who is in his first year as supervisor of two of West Hartford’s outdoor pools (Fernridge Park and Kennedy Park), thought it would be fun to have West Hartford Leisure Services surprise campers and swimmers at the four outdoor pools with a popsicle treat. Although the original planned date for the surprise popsicle delivery earlier in the week was gloomy and rainy, Friday, July 26, was bright, sunny and warm.

Callahan, along with his colleague Kaj Soiseth-Nealy, a supervisor at the Beachland and Eisenhower pools, were greeted enthusiastically by grateful campers and swimmers, who called the ice creams “really good.”

At both Beachland and Fernridge Park, campers also participated in an ice cream making activity on Friday, so it was an extra sweet day. “They got to enjoy double the fun,” Callahan said.
