Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Human trafficking is something that residents believe occurs elsewhere, but many cases occur locally.

Rotarians from Effingham Noon learned more about the topic at their meeting earlier this month.

The volume of traffic through the Effingham area from across the country creates activity at local truck stops, which are often the locations where victims of human trafficking can be found.

Ann Deters and Beverly Soltwedel joined Norma Lansing for the presentation to Rotary. Lansing was the weekly program chair for the presentation.

All three women are part of the I-57/70 Task Force, which works to stop human trafficking and educate people on what to look for so they can help victims of trafficking or assist law enforcement with potential cases.
