Sunday a windy and warmer day before it really warms up this week

WHow we track

  • Windy, warmer Sunday
  • Extremely warm this week
  • Very little chance of rain

An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING has been issued for the entire viewing area from Monday through Thursday.

A few showers and storms have moved into the area this morning. As it moves east it will start to dissipate with a few lingering clouds into the morning. Our Sunday will be a little warmer in the mid 90s. Winds will increase from the south to 15-25 mph later this afternoon as the heat moves in.

The upper level jet stream continues to bring wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeastern Kansas. While not as prominent as the past few days, we still look “hazy” and our sunrises/sunsets have a red tint.

The heat really starts to pick up on Monday, reaching over 30 degrees for several days in a row. The nighttime lows don’t offer much relief either, as we struggle to ‘cool’ below 80°. Make sure you take it easy next week, drink lots of water and find ways to stay cool!
