PCRC’s latest single ‘Foolmuse’ sets the stage for new album BETA

Ever-evolving and genre-bending Indian band Peter Cat Recording Co. (PCRC) have just released their latest single, ‘Foolmuse’, from their upcoming album, BETAThe new album, out August 9 via Muddy Water, promises to capture the band’s signature transcultural sound and innovative spirit.

The song ‘Foolmuse’, written by band member Kartik Pillai, explores the turbulent emotions that come with losing yourself in a fool’s muse. Kartik explains, ‘The song highlights the turbulence that comes with losing yourself in a fool’s muse, no matter how good or euphoric it may make you feel.’

This release follows up on their poignant single ‘Suddenly’, a heartfelt tribute from vocalist Suryakant Sawhney to his late father, featuring a touching video in which his mother listens to the track for the first time.

As its name suggests, Peter Cat Recording Co. is more than a band; it’s a self-sustaining factory of music and art. With three powerhouse songwriters—Suryakant, Dhruv Bhola, and Kartik—the group is building a legacy that reflects the innovative spirit of bands like The Velvet Underground and The Beatles. Their music is infused with natural sounds, creating a unique time stamp within their recordings.

The upcoming album, BETAmarks a new chapter for PCRC, reflecting their personal growth and experiences since their last release. The title, chosen by drummer Karan Singh’s six-month-old son, symbolizes “child” in Hindi, aptly encapsulating the band’s evolving journey.

The band is set to embark on a massive 77-date tour, kicking off on August 23 in Boise, ID. The tour will feature headline shows in major cities including Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, interspersed with dates supporting Khruangbin. The tour will conclude with six dates in India, ending on December 28 in Kolkata.
