MCFRS responds to fire in hospital ICU room Monday morning

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) was dispatched to 8600 Old Georgetown Rd in Bethesda for a fire in the intensive care unit at Suburban Hospital.

According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, the small fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries. Crews on scene are working to remove all smoke before returning the property to hospital staff.

An update from Pete Piringer, MCFRS’s chief spokesperson, stated: “8600 Old Georgetown Rd. multi-story medical facility, electrical issue, fire is extinguished, no extension, no injuries or additional medical needs, some smoke removal necessary.”
