Baby and 42-year-old woman die in crash in Emporia on Saturday

EMPORIA (KSNT) – Kansas Highway reports a 42-year-old woman and a newborn baby were killed in a crash on I-335.

On Saturday at 3:10 p.m., a 44-year-old man was driving a 2021 Kia Telluride south on I-335. The driver collided with the rear of a 2015 International semi-truck. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the Kia Telluride came to a stop after spinning.


According to the crash log, there were 3 minor passengers in the Kia. It was reported that a 42-year-old woman named Erin Moreno died, along with newborn child Anthony Barrera.

The 44-year-old man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The other occupants were listed as wearing seat belts. Information about the three juvenile passengers was protected.
