Obituary for Jean Creighton Cook

Jean Creighton Cook of Montgomery, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 in Montgomery, NY. She was 92.

She was the daughter of the late Aloisius J. Creighton and Jeannette Adams Baird Creighton and was born on February 1, 1932 in New York City.

Jean was a retired librarian for the Valley Central School District, Montgomery, NY. She was a master gardener, a member of the Berea Bunch Lunch Club, the Westchester Book Club, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Fish Club. She was also a member of the Walden Reformed Church and a tour guide for Museum Village. She was a Walton girl.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garry Cook, her six brothers and sisters and her son-in-law Robert Houck.

Her survivors include her daughter Victoria Houck of Marlboro, son Martin Cook and partner Elissa Fisher of Ellenville, daughter Glenda Cook-Glackin and James of Montgomery, daughter Gail Cook and John McLaughlin of Marlboro; 4 grandchildren: Alexia Houck, Garry Martin Cook, Jack McLaughlin, William McLaughlin; and 1 great-grandchild: Holly Hastings.

A memorial service will be held on September 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery, NY 12549.

The funeral service will be held at Bruynswick Rural Cemetery.

The cremation will take place in private.
